Uniontown hosts first National Night Out

Uniontown, AL- The City of Uniontown National Night Out was a success. There were vendors, music, food, and toys for children.

Demopolis Police Chief Rex E. Flowers, Greensboro Police Chief Michael Hamilton, and Eutaw Police Chief Tommy Johnson were in attendance to show their support.

City of Uniontown Mayor Christopher Jones said that this was the first National Night Out in the city’s history and that they plan to have events like this more often.

Uniontown Police Chief DeMarcus Weems said that he is very community oriented. He also shared how he is implementing some changes in the department. “It’s a new day in the police department” he said.

Chief Weems is planning more events in the future to include a Breast Cancer Walk, Trunk or Treat, and Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway.

Other participants were Uniontown City Councilors Carlton Lewis and Henrietta Jones, and Perry County Circuit Clerk Mia Jacobs- Turner. Vendors included C.H.O.I.C.E. Uniontown, Selma AIR, The Serious Injury Law Group, and Gumptown Magazine.
