Montgomery, Alabama—Transitioning a love one into a long-term care facility can be stressful. One of the big questions concerning such a transition is how to pay for the care. For example, changes to the laws governing eligibility for the VA Pension Program went into effect on October 18th. These changes make it more difficult for veterans to qualify for the program and receive help paying for assisted living facilities. Likewise, misinformation is rampant about qualifying for Medicaid. Many people believe you must give your assets like your home away or be broke to qualify for Medicaid.
“The amount of misinformation available makes it harder for people to make sound decisions for their loved ones and get the long-term care they need,” said Attorney Sayge Grubbs. “As a long-term care planning attorney at Sage Legacy Counsel and the education director of the American Counsel of Asset Protection, I believe information changes situations and the public is in desperate need of the right information. Now is the time for people to speak with an attorney who focuses on long-term care planning and other aging experts that can answer questions from their years of experience working in the long-term care field.”
The Successful Aging Bootcamp is designed to help the public get the right information. Attendees can get questions answered about Medicaid, VA Aid and Attendance, the uses of hospice, Medicare, choosing a home health provider, things to look for in an assisted living facility, leveraging financial products to pay for care and how to make the transition stress free.
Attorney Sayge Grubbs is the host and the Successful Aging Bootcamp takes place on November 1st at the Archibald Senior Center in Montgomery, Alabama from 9 a.m. -2 p.m. There is a $10 charge to cover materials and lunch will be provided.
