Montgomery, AL – The Second Annual Sista Strut is a 3K breast cancer charity walk to raise awareness for breast cancer specifically in women of color. The walk will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2019 beginning at 8:00am at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival.
Research shows that women of color are diagnosed at a younger age, have more severe tumors and a higher death rate than other demographics. Sista Strut will raise money for breast cancer research and survivor support organizations Joy to Life Foundation and Sistas Can Survive Coalition, Inc., local Montgomery breast cancer charities. Hot 105.7, 104.3 Hallelujah-FM, and Magic 97.1 will promote the event on-air with tips about breast cancer prevention and provide resources for listeners to learn more.
Sista Strut is sponsored by Ford, Acceptance Insurance, Montgomery Cancer Center, UAB Breast Health Clinic, and McPhillips and Shinbaum. Additional sponsorship opportunities are still available.
Participants can register for Sista Strut on Hot 105.7, 104.3 Hallelujah-FM, and Magic 97.1’s websites as an individual or as a team. The cost to register is $25 for an individual and $30 for team members. The rally will begin at 8:00am and the walk will begin at 10:00am.
