Montgomery, AL Montgomery County Commissioner Ronda Walker, in her third term on the Commission, announced today she will not seek reelection. During her time on the Commission, Walker has focused on economic development, fiscal conservatism, transparent communication, and building community relationships. She now plans to shift her attention to new opportunities.
“For the past nine years it has been my privilege to serve my hometown on the Montgomery County Commission. Representing the interests of the people in district three has been a great honor and a responsibility I never took lightly.”
During Walker’s tenure on the County Commission, Montgomery landed the F35 fighter jet squadron, established a relationship with ESPN to host three ESPN college football games each year, developed the inland port project, and built the Olympic standard Montgomery Whitewater adventure center. Additionally, Montgomery County has seen record-breaking economic growth of new and expanding industry resulting in billions of dollars in capital investment and thousands of new jobs. Walker is proud to have played a small part in each of these successes over the past decade.
Under Walker’s leadership, the Commission has passed a conservative and balanced budget each year and has seen an increase in the county’s general fund balance. Additionally, Walker spearheaded a financial policy to ensure construction reserves for the county.
Walker says she will miss serving alongside her fellow commissioners, county staff, and community leaders, but she will continue to support Montgomery County with her usual energy and passion.
