Alabama State Representative Phillip Ensler (D-74) hosted a press conference yesterday regarding HB 36, the “Glock Switch Bill”.
Several law enforcement agencies were present in support of the bill included the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the Sheriff’s Association, the District Attorney’s Association, and the Fraternal Order of Police.
The bill bans the use of illegal Glock switches on handguns. These devices turn self-loading handguns into dangerous automatic weapons.
Montgomery County Sheriff Derrick Cunningham said that the devices are uncontrollable. “This device is not meant for target shooting. It’s meant for spraying. It’s meant for killing. If you are caught with one you are going to jail.”
The bill passed through the House Judiciary Committee.
