Montgomery, AL- The Pilgrim Rest Senior Center Senior Prom Extravaganza was held on July 21, 2023 at the Alcazar Shiners Temple. Almost 500 seniors were in attendance.
Ms. Hazel McCain celebrated her 100th birthday. She was presented a resolution from Mayor Steven Reed and Probate Judge JC Love.
Councilman Marche Johnson and Councilman CC Calhoun were also in attendance.
Montgomery DA Daryl Bailey said that our seniors are the one who paved the way for us and that we should take care of them.
Former Senator Coach David Burkette was recognized for starting a senior prom 17 years ago, because his mother never attended prom in high school.
There were health care vendors in attendance. The Montgomery Police Department and Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office was also present.
WSFA News Anchor Judd Davis and Citizens That Care Founder and Community Advocate Cubie Rae Hayes were the hosts for the event.
A prom king and prom queen was named for each senior center that participated.
Sanja Walker is the Director of the Center and Stacey Herbert is the Assistant Director.
