Mayor Reed to ride public transit on M Transit Day

Montgomery, AL – Public transportation services are important in many ways. They provide mobility, can shape land use and development patterns, generate jobs and enable economic growth, and support public policies regarding energy use, air quality and carbon emissions. (Transit Cooperative Research Program 2009).

The M Transit and the City of Montgomery are happy to announce Thursday, May 5th as the 2022 M Transit Day with a tagline of There Is Such A Thing As A FREE RIDE.

On this date, everything M Transit will be celebrated: the riders, transit drivers and employees. In addition, this day will be used to bring awareness to public transportation in Montgomery, Alabama.

All riders on Thursday, May 5th (all day) will receive FREE Rides via The M Transit. 

Samuel Tensley, GM of the M Transit states, “The M Transit’s overall mission on this day is to increase awareness and advocacy, in addition to increasing support for public transportation among riders and non-riders, decision-makers and stakeholders”.

City of Montgomery’s Mayor, Steven Reed will also join in on the fun and take a ride on the M Transit. Mayor Reed will be partnered by State of Alabama Representatives Patrice “Penni” McClammy (District 76) and TaShina Morris (District 77); Montgomery County Commissioner Doug Singleton; and Montgomery Chamber Chief Officer, Ron Simmons and Executive VP, Sheron J. Rose.
