“Thanks to our local newspaper and Gannett Media for sponsoring this innovative program to help our community thrive, and recognize our mighty cause,” said Scott Gregory, Executive Director, Montgomery Habitat for Humanity.

Since 1987, Montgomery Habitat for Humanity has placed 85 families into homes. The need for more decent, affordable housing in the Montgomery area remains great.

“This year has been an especially challenging time for all of us, and Montgomery Habitat for Humanity is working hard to overcome these latest challenges to be able to continue to provide affordable housing for those qualified in Montgomery County Alabama,” explained Gregory.

Founded in 1987, Montgomery Habitat for Humanity partners with low-income families to provide them with decent, affordable housing. Partner families meet financial requirements, provide 400 hours of sweat equity, attend financial literacy courses and home ownership classes in preparation for home ownership. When all of these activities are completed they enter into a zero interest mortgage and enjoy home ownership.

A Community Thrives is a grantmaking and crowdfunding program from the USA TODAY NETWORK, which includes USA TODAY and Gannett’s local media brands to include The Montgomery Advertiser. Supported by the Gannett Foundation, the program offers an opportunity for non-profit leaders to share great ideas for how to improve their community
