GIRL SCOUTS OF SOUTHERN ALABAMA HONORS LEADING LADIES AND LEADING ORGANIZATION FOR WOMEN

By Jackie Lucas

APRIL 2023 – Girl Scouts of Southern Alabama (GSSA) will host its 6th Annual Leading
Ladies event in June to celebrate women and organizations in southern Alabama that
have distinguished themselves as outstanding members of the community through
individual excellence and high levels of achievement. Nominations for the Leading Lady
Awards and the Leading Organization for Women Award are open until May 15, 2023.
Nominations will be reviewed and 10 women to be honored as Leading Ladies at an
awards brunch on Thursday, June 22nd at 10:00 a.m. at Wynlakes Country Club. Leading
Ladies exemplify quality leadership skills and outstanding community support, especially
when directing those efforts to support the advancement of girls and women. The
Leading Workplace for Women Award recognizes an organization that supports and
encourages opportunities for women to develop leadership skills to further grow their
careers. Equal opportunity in the workplace helps women reach their potential and allows
the community to fully benefit.

Female leadership is at the core of the Girl Scout mission. The Leading Ladies Awards
Brunch is an important fundraising event for GSSA and gives us an opportunity to
demonstrate why investing in girls is so important and can change the world.

Girl Scouts bring their dreams to life and work together to build a better world. Through
programs in 30 counties in southern Alabama, Girl Scouts of all backgrounds and
abilities can be unapologetically themselves as they discover their strengths and rise to
meet new challenges—whether they want to climb to the top of a tree or the top of their
class, lace up their boots for a hike, or make their first best friends. Backed by trusted
adult volunteers, mentors, and millions of alums, Girl Scouts lead the way as they find
their voices and make changes that affect the issues most important to them. To join us,
volunteer, reconnect or donate, visit girlscoutssa.org.
