MONTGOMERY, Ala. – As part of Montgomery County’s unwavering commitment to creating a safer, cleaner environment and promoting economic development, the County officially unveiled 8 new public electric vehicle charging ports at Montgomery Whitewater Park Thursday.
A collaborative effort between the County, the Alabama Power Company, Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama, Montgomery Whitewater Park, and the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs, the new state of the art charging station consists of (2) 180kW rapid chargers and (6) 16.64kW chargers.
Located close to both I-65 & I-85, the station provides electric vehicle drivers with an easy and convenient way to charge their car. Drivers can also explore the many amenities available at Montgomery Whitewater Park while waiting for their vehicle to charge.
Funding was provided by a $461,700.00 grant from ADECA’s Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Program along with matching funds from Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama and the Alabama Power Company. No County funds were used for this project.
