Clemson sketchy without Lawrence

Clemson sketchy without Lawrence

This week the number one team in college football, the Clemson Tigers. Took on the Boston College Eagles. I choose this article because here in the south football is the most popular sport you could say. In every state there is a team or two that everyone cheers for. More specifically here in Alabama, the teams are the Auburn Tigers, and the Alabama Crimson Tide. I chose this game because I felt it was the most interesting, with Trevor Lawrence out everyone is eager to see how they would play. This game was a tell of two halves with both teams dominating a half of each game. Eventually Clemson’s defense got it together and shut Boston College out in the second half.

The year of 2020 has been a crazy one, this pandemic is unlike anything I have ever seen in my lifetime. Friday morning Clemson’s star quarterback Trevor Lawrence tested positive for covid-19. Like every Covid-19 case it is recommended that the person isolate and quarantine for at least ten days. Which means the quarterback was to miss today’s game and their game next week against Notre Dame. With Trevor Lawrence not playing you could tell Clemson wasn’t their normal self early on but eventually came back from a 28-13 lead at halftime.

Down 28-13 at halftime I’m sure the whole world tuned in to see what the final result for the game would be. As we looked on Clemson came roaring back in the second half putting up twenty-one unanswered points as the defense took control of the game. I felt like Clemson’s defense took a lot of pressure off their freshman quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei. As if he needed any more help in his stunning first start for the Tigers. Uiagalelei went 30/41 for 342 yards and two touchdowns through the air. He also rushed for one, along with their Heisman candidate back Travis Etienne. Overall Clemson still looked dominant despite the shaky first half, and they have solidified someone for their back-up quarterback position. Look out Alabama!
