On September 30, 2022, Governor Kay Ivey issued a proclamation declaring the month of October 2022 as HBCU month. HBCU denotes historical black colleges and universities. The state of Alabama is fortunate to have 14 HBCUs. Over the years, many graduates of Bullock County High School have furthered their education by attending one of these institutions of higher learning. Many future graduates of Bullock County High School will also attend one of these colleges and universities.
In honor of HBCU month and recognition of the attendees and graduates of HBCU’s, Bullock County Probate Judge James E. Tatum is making a modest donation to each of the 14 colleges and universities. HBCU’s in Alabama and nationwide are beneficial and impactful not only to the communities that they serve, but also to the world.
“It is my hope that others join in and pledge their support to these HBCU’s” Tatum said. “Our support is invaluable to the students, to the colleges, and to the future. Together, we can help to change lives.”
