Alabama State University is holding an in-person Fall 2022 Commencement Convocation on Friday, December 2 at the ASU Stadium. Two graduation ceremony sessions will be held on that day, one at 8:45 a.m. and the other at 1:45 p.m.
Africa Miranda, an actress, host, digital personality, and alumna of ASU will serve as the speaker for both ceremonies.
Africa Miranda is an internationally known lifestyle creative whose brand inspires women everywhere to embrace their inner light. She is an actress, host and digital personality – featured on Netflix, Fox, BET+, and her own eponymous series, The Africa Miranda Show, on Facebook Watch.
Her 2018 book release Step Up, Step Out and Shine teaches readers how to build their own global brands. Africa’s creative journey has been featured in Vanity Fair, Essence, InStyle, and countless media outlets. Dedicated to empowering other women to step intentionally into their purpose – Africa is active via her extensive social media network and brand partnerships, helping a new generation of creators reach their highest potential through workshops, mentoring and community outreach. A digital innovator, Africa has been honored by the Shorty Awards, Create & Cultivate 100, and Okay Africa 100 for her contributions to the industry.
Africa served as Miss Alabama State University 1997-98 and is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, initiated at the Beta Eta Chapter of ASU. She is currently an active member of the Atlanta Suburban Alumnae Chapter in Atlanta, Ga.
