908th AW February Update

MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE, Ala. – The 908th Airlift Wing continues to prepare for the arrival of its first MH-139 Grey Wolf helicopter, projected to arrive mid-March, and its official redesignation from an airlift wing to a flying training wing.

Currently, three construction projects, including the Academic and Simulator building, are 30% underway with estimated completions by December 2024, and a fourth is 85% finished and scheduled to be completed in March 2024. The new 908th Operations Group building received an administrative notice to proceed today, the first step in the construction process. It is expected to be completed in June 2025.

Boeing engineers completed acceptance testing on the Integrated Aircraft Systems Trainer this week; the US Air Force will take ownership of the trainer in May 2024.

The 58th Operations Group Detachment 3, the active-duty unit associated with the 908th AW, is currently focused on the programs that it must implement as required by law. They are working on a Memorandum of Understanding between the associated units and supported the IAST acceptance testing.

Det. 3 is slated to receive an additional two personnel to begin seasoning alongside 908 AW members in preparations to receive MH-139 students.
